We did it! Thanks to the hard work of impassioned nannies (special shout out to vocal nanny advocate Lisa D.!), agencies, and parents lobbying for change, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health finally did the right thing by reversing their original decision and acknowledging that nannies are in fact childcare workers thereby making them eligible for the COIVD vaccine under Phase 1B. Earlier today the the language regarding eligibility on the Department of Public Health’s website was changed to include Domestic Workers, such as nannies, who work over 20 hours per week. This breaking news is bringing a sense of relief and joy to families and nannies alike, and we couldn’t wait to share it with all of you.
Nannies will be required to prove eligibility for the vaccine by showing proof of employment through a pay stub and/or providing a letter from your employer attesting to the fact that you are a domestic worker with a 20+ hour schedule. We are advising nannies to be prepared with both documents.
